,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1849 Birth of Elizabeth Musgrove
Thomas and Christiana Musgrove's second child Elizabeth was born 7th November 1849. The couple were living at her father's (George Aitchison) house at 5 Princes street St Pancras. The baby was born at Queen Charlotte's Laying In Hospital in Homer Place Marylebone. Christiana had been recommended to Queen Charlotte's by the eminent surgeon Richard Blagden of Albemarle Street who was also Surgeon Accoucheur to Queen Victoria. Accoucheur is a French word meaning a male obstetrician.
Blagdon was associated with The Queen Charlotte Hospital and died in 1861. His obituary is shown below. We are uncertain whether his involvement was purely professional or whether he knew the family. The illustration below shows the daily birth log at Queen Charlotte's. Christiana is third entry. It records that she is married, aged 30 and this is her second child. Just off the page the birth was recorded as breach.
