Bristow Family Camberwell
The two maps above show Camberwell Green and the location
of Great Orchard Row. It was here that from 1830 to 1845 Thomas Faulkener
Bristow ran his Academy School.
The 1841 census (left} shows Thomas as schoolmaster, his wife Jane, and
their children Henry, Caroline (a straw bonnet maker), Thomas, Ann, Sarah,
Charlotte and Ellen.
His son
Thomas was in 1841 18 years old. Below are two examples of his school
books which date from 1833 when he was only 10 years old.
