Susannah Tapley & Family
Charlotte Susannah Hollings married William
Henry Tapley at St Andrews Holborn inm 1853. We have found
records relating to four children. Henry William (b 1854) Edwin
Alfred (b 1857) Eliza Charlotte (b 1859) and Frederick Mark
(b 1862).
The 1861 census recoeds the family living in Finsbury North London. William's
occupation is a Goldsmith. He died at the age of 49 in 1881. The census
of that year shows his widow Charlotte listed as a nurse and living alone
in Clerkenwell. Twenty years later the 1901 census shows Charlotte now
resident in the Holcroft Road Almshouses in Hackney. She lived on to
the grand old age of 95 dying in 1928.
Little is known of her children especially Edwin Alfred and Frederick
Mark Tapley who died in 1884 aged just 22.
Her son Henry William married Amy Braithwaite in 1874 in Holborn. They
had four children, Henry Edward (b 1875), Amy Rose (b1876), Edwin Frederick
(b 1878) and Sarah Elizabeth - Known as Lizzie (b 1880).
Henry William Tapley Married Emily Clara Fasson in 1898 in Lambeth. They
had two children. Henry Edmond (b 1899) and Muriel Nora (b 1904). Henry
married Hilda Margaret Vinicombe in 1921 in West Ham. They had one child
Peter Edward Tapley (b 1927). Muriel married Arthur Brace in 1931 in
West Ham they had one child, Cecilie Brace (b 1938). Peter Edward Tapley
married Hazel Stinson in 1958. They had two children, Christopher D Tapley
(b 1959) and Richard M Tapley (b 1963) in Worthing.
Henry William Tapley's brother Edwin Frederick (b 1878) married Maria
Margaret Griffiths in 1921 in Liverpool. They had one child Edward Francis
(b 1931) who married Edith Clarke in 1972.
No detals are known of Henry and Amy Tapley's two Daughters Amy Rose
and Lizzie.
The only other child of William and Charlotte Tapleys married was Eliza
Charlotte Tapley (b 1859) She married Thomas Archer in 1892 in Rochford
Essex. They had two children Florence May Archer (b 1892) and Frederick
William Archer (b 1895).
