Chrissie's Pubs

After marrying Thomas Langman, they both ran a
series pubs over the next ten years . They took over
the Cricketers Arms from her father George in
Danbury (top left) in 1886
. By 1889 they had
moved to a new pub the Bell High Street Ingatestone
(top right). We next find them listed on the 1891
census which was taken on the evening of Sunday
the fifth of April. They are shown as licensees of the
Stag and Hounds Selsden Road South Croyden (middle left). Their stay at this pub however was short lived.
All we know is they stayed living locally for the next
few years. The 1891 census shown below list the
family members resident at the Stag and Hounds
listed with Thomas and Christiana are his widowed
mother listed as a housekeeper and his sister named
as a barmaid who had both moved with
them from Danbury.
