..................William Harris 1828 - ??

William and Betsy's son William was born around 1828 but we can find no trace of him being baptised. The 1841 census records him living withn his parents at Artichoke Court Granby Place Lambeth. He married on 12th April 1847 Jane Frankham at St Mary's Lambeth they were then living at 10 China Walk Lambeth. Jane was the daughter of John and Martha Frankham who was a stone Mason and originated from Bath Somerset.

By 1851 the census records them at 8 Haugate Street Lambeth, and in 1861 they were living at 9 South Street Lambeth next door to William's parents at number 11.

William and Jane had at least 14 children. Sarah Ann (1848); William (1850); Anna (1851) 25 Phoenix St Westminster Road; Ellen (1852) 10 South St; Jane (1854) South St; Martha (1857) 66 Fyer St; Mary Ann (1859) Hercules Buildings; Rosina (1860) 6 Granby Place; Emily (1862) 9 South St; Netty Neate (1864) South St; Eliza Harriet (1866) South St; Caroline (1868) South St; Bertha Jane (1870) South St and John (1872) Arnold Parogan Francis St Waleorth. It is interesting to note that although al of the above children were Baptised very few had their births officially registered. We believe many of these children died in infancy.

William and Jane Harris are listed on the 1871 census shown above at 9 South Street Lambeth. Only 6 of their children are listed. The 1881 census has the family living at 4 Chalgrove Road Tottenham. William is still a stonemason aged 53, and Jane is 51. They are living very close to Jane's brother George Frankham a mason himself. We believe the Harris's and Frankhams nay have been in business together.

Nothing more is known of William or Jane Harris.

Only marriages for 2 of their children have been found. Their son William married Esther Quinlan in 1867.
They had at least 11 children. William (1868), Jane (1870) South St; George (1872) 10 South St; Esther (1874) 2 Ellis Sq; Ellen (1877); John (1878); Florence (1880); Ellen (1882) 7 Ellis Sq; Mary Ann (1884); Catherine (1887), Arthur (1889) and Alfred Thomas (1892) 3 Paddock Place Camberwell.
